Atanua's licensing plan has changed, and the basic idea now is:

- 2 week fully-functional trial version available for everyone
- Educational institutions, schools and such may request a free license
- For everyone else, wide variety of licenses are avalable.

All of the licenses are functionally identical, except for price and license name. This way users can pay what they feel Atanua is worth, and the license they've acquired will show in the application next to the user's name, as well as in any .atanua files.

Additionally, I may finally get some kind of idea how widely Atanua is being used in schools.

If Atanua sells enough to fund the purchase of a new intel mac, you will see major increase in effort that I put into the further development of Atanua. (Heck, if it sells enough to pay off my house loan, it just might become my primary job.. =)

I think it's a bit odd to go 2 years without updates and then suddenly start charging for your software. Also, you can't (legally) retroactively change the license of past versions.

I like Atanua but it is missing many key features that would make it pay-worthy. The biggest one for me is being able to create your own "modules" or "chips" within Atanua itself.

If it's not worth 5 eur to you, you'll probably find something else that is.

The lack of updates I've explained earlier - there has been no interest in Atanua from outside either, so I have not felt it needs my attention. This, even though it's got about a thousand downloads a month.

And for the record, atanua has never been free - I overestimated schools' willingness to pay for anything.
